Australia Women announce squads for Bangladesh and New Zealand series
Cricket Australia has announced a 14-member squad for the upcoming women's white-ball series against Bangladesh and New Zealand. Due to injuries, regular captain Sophie Molineux will miss the three-match ODI series against Bangladesh in Brisbane, which runs from October 9 to 14. Tahlia McGrath will lead the side in her absence, while Ashleigh Gardner remains the designated deputy for the subsequent T20I series against New Zealand.
Several players are sidelined by injury: Molineux is recovering from a hip issue, Lucy Hamilton is managing a quad strain, and Darcie Brown is out with a back injury. National selector Shawn Flegler noted that while Molineux is included in the squad, her availability for the T20I matches will be assessed. Grace Harris was also omitted from the selection.
In response, Bangladesh has named a 16-member squad for their tour of Australia, led by captain Nigar Sultana Joty. The series holds significance for Bangladesh in the ICC Women’s Championship standings and serves as a test against top-tier opposition in unfamiliar conditions.
