Australian ABC pulls Four Corners investigations after source concerns
The Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) removed two Four Corners investigative documentaries – Meth Highway (2024) and Cocaine Nation (2023) – from its digital platforms after concerns were raised about the veracity of certain sources used in the programs.
Both pieces were led by former reporter Mahmood Fazal, who was dismissed in May 2026 following an internal investigation into his involvement with an external podcast in 2025. The ABC said the matter has been referred to its Ombudsman for an independent review of whether the programmes complied with the corporation’s editorial policies. “The ABC will consider whether any further action will be required once that review is complete,” the broadcaster said, adding “We take any concerns about our journalism seriously.”
