Australian Aged Care Authority launches pricing consultation for 2027‑28
The Independent Health and Aged Care Pricing Authority (IHACPA) has opened a public consultation on the Pricing Framework for Australian Residential Aged Care Services for 2027–28. The consultation seeks feedback from residential aged care providers, residents, families, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, and other stakeholders to shape advice that will be presented to the Australian Government.
Key focus areas include funding for residential respite care, participation in cost collections, allocation of administrative and care costs, the impact of transitioning to the Aged Care Act 2024, and supplements or grants for residents with specific care needs. IHACPA Chair David Tune urged participation, emphasizing the importance of transparent, evidence‑based pricing. Submissions close at 5 pm AEST on 21 August 2026.
