Australian Angus cattle sales fetch high prices at Roma and Eastern Victoria

The Roma Saleyards auction on July 24 saw 112 Angus bulls offered by Lawsons stud, clearing 100% of the lot with an average price of $7,991 and a total gross of $895,000. The top‑priced bull, Lawsons Veracious V5108, sold for $28,000 to Davidson Livestock Pty Ltd of Cheshire, Tambo, who plans to use the animal for the black feeder market.

In Eastern Victoria, Poowong beef producers Michael and Desirae Hocking achieved top prices at the Livestock Exchange store sale, selling nine‑ to ten‑month‑old Angus steers at $2,000 per head and Angus heifers at $1,690 each. Their success is credited to the use of Fernleigh‑blood bulls and Banquet‑blood cows on high‑quality pastures originally seeded by the notable Victorian seed merchant Peter Notman.
