Australian Boomers prepare for FIBA World Cup qualifiers

The Australian men's national basketball team, the Boomers, are preparing for upcoming FIBA World Cup qualification fixtures and future international tournaments. The squad for the upcoming month includes 11 current NBL players, with Max Mackinnon and Anthony Dell'Orso set to make their debuts. The team is scheduled to face Syria on August 28 and Jordan on August 30 in Manila.

During a recent players' camp in Melbourne, AFL legend and Melbourne Demons captain Max Gawn hosted the athletes at his restaurant. Gawn provided leadership insights to the group, which included NBA players Ben Simmons and Josh Giddey, as they prepare for the 2027 FIBA World Cup and the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.

In the absence of head coaches Adam Caporn and Dean Vickerman, Jacob Chance will oversee head coaching responsibilities for the upcoming windows.
