Australian Bureau of Statistics launches multilingual census support hubs

The Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) has set up pop‑up assistance hubs at Woolworths stores in Bright and Benalla, Victoria, on 6‑12 August. The hubs provide in‑language help and information sessions for residents completing the 2024 Census, with support from the Translating and Interpreting Service, which offers interpreters in more than 150 languages. The ABS website also features translated guidance in 26 languages and a contact centre for additional assistance.

With Census night scheduled for 11 August, the ABS reminds Australians that they can complete the form as soon as they receive their instructions, request a paper form, or indicate if they will be away on Census night. National spokesperson Emily Walter said more than one million Census forms have already been submitted, and the data will be used to plan schools, hospitals, transport, housing and other essential services.
