The Tilba Valley Winery & Alehouse has lost a compensation claim against the Eurobodalla Shire Council following a temporary shutdown due to E. coli contamination. The NSW Civil and Administrative Tribunal (NCAT) upheld a prohibition order issued in February 2026 after water samples tested positive for the bacteria. The tribunal ruled that the premises were in an unclean condition, thereby dismissing the winery's request for compensation regarding seven days of lost trade.

In a separate matter, Woollahra Council has rejected a $2 million expansion proposal for the Rose Bay Marina. The plan sought to add 32 new berths to accommodate rising boat ownership, but the planning panel determined the project would constitute an 'overdevelopment' and negatively impact the scenic character of Rose Bay. Marina owner Ned O’Neil has announced plans to appeal the decision in the Land and Environment Court.
