Australian cattle auctions break records with Brangus bull and Brooklana heifer sales

A Brangus bull named Marcello El Dorado fetched a top price of AU$26,000 at the 2026 Marcella Angus, Brangus and Ultrablack sale on the Booubyjan property in Queensland. The sale, held on August 1, saw 36 of 49 bulls sold, generating a gross of AU$327,000. Buyers Link and Tracy Davies of Mundubbera purchased the bull, citing a desire for more Bos indicus content in their herd.

At the Brooklana stud east of Dorrigo, New South Wales, a Brooklana heifer, Prue V7, sold for AU$300,000 to a Western Australian buyer, shattering the previous Australasian record for an Angus female. The heifer, from the Millah Murrah line and offered with a bull calf at foot, was presented by Brooklana Angus principal Rodger Pryce, who highlighted the animal’s proven genetics and resilience through extreme weather.

Both sales underscore strong demand for high‑quality cattle genetics in Australia’s beef industry.
