Australian cattle markets show mixed demand in Bairnsdale and Tamworth
Australian cattle markets showed mixed results across different regions. At the East Gippsland Livestock Exchange in Bairnsdale, cattle prices eased by up to $100 per head due to a higher proportion of secondary cattle and softened demand for steers. Approximately 2,800 cattle were yarded, with weaner Angus steers reaching a top price of $2,300.
In contrast, the Tamworth market experienced “rock solid” buyer competition and improved yarding. A total of 2,410 head of store cattle were sold under positive conditions, supported by growing grazier confidence. High-performing items included cows with calves reaching $3,075 and Angus yearling steers topping at $1,930.
