Australian Chamber Orchestra receives new work by John Adams

Composer John Adams has written a new work titled ‘Gioia’ specifically for the Australian Chamber Orchestra (ACO). The piece was created for ACO director Richard Tognetti and principal violin Satu Vanska. It marks the only new composition Adams is writing during his 80th year and is scheduled to tour Australia and the United States next year.

The ACO’s 2027 season will also feature a performance of J.S. Bach’s ‘St John Passion’ in collaboration with the Belgian vocal ensemble Vox Luminis. Additionally, the orchestra plans to host its inaugural four-day festival, titled ‘Currents’, at its Walsh Bay headquarters in June.
