Australian councils approve multi‑million budgets for Bayswater and Busselton

The City of Bayswater council adopted a budget that will increase rates for homeowners by about $1.34 a week, an average rise of 4.54 % for improved residential and commercial properties. The plan allocates more than $10.45 million for maintenance of public buildings, over $2.3 million for tree planting, and $750,000 for sports‑ground upgrades, including new cricket nets and resurfacing of a skate‑park ramp.

The City of Busselton approved its 2026/27 budget, forecasting $135 million in operating expenses and a $63 million capital spend. Residential rates are set to rise by an average 6.2 %. Funding will support new sport and recreation facilities, a $6.4 million sporting pavilion, $9.5 million for footpaths and cycleways, $4 million to complete the state‑of‑the‑art Performing Arts and Convention Centre, and $20 million for road‑network improvements, among other projects.
