Australian Couples Arrested in Separate Drug‑Related Crimes

Police in Victoria arrested a 32‑year‑old woman and a 39‑year‑old man in Brighton East after alleging they posed as medical practitioners and administered injections of a mixture containing vitamins, protein powder and prescription drugs. A raid also uncovered cocaine, testosterone, anabolic steroids, painkillers and human growth hormones. The pair face charges including trafficking steroids, possession of cocaine and common assault and are due in court in October.

In New South Wales, a British couple from Edinburgh were charged after investigators seized more than £5.7 million worth of suspected ketamine in Sydney. Searches of a short‑term rental and a rental vehicle revealed roughly two kilograms of the drug in an apartment and about 107 kg in a car, along with scales, gloves and cash. Authorities say the couple entered Australia to distribute large quantities of the narcotic and could face up to 15 years in prison.
