Australian cyclist Danny Barber selected for 2026 Commonwealth Games

Danny Barber, a 23‑year‑old cyclist from Dubbo, has been named to the Australian cycling team for the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games, which will run from 23 July to 2 August. His selection was announced on 10 June by Commonwealth Games Australia and AusCycling.

Barber joins fellow New South Wales riders Gordon Allan and Thomas Cornish, the latter a double gold‑medallist from Birmingham 2022. Barber, a former junior champion, has won several international gold medals and notably defeated former world champion Azizulhasani Awang in Melbourne in 2022. Chef de Mission Petria Thomas said, "Track and Para Cycling remain two of Australia's strongest programs at the Commonwealth Games, and these selections reflect that legacy." AusCycling CEO Marne Fechner added that the squad mixes proven champions with exciting debutants.

Barber's inclusion follows his development under the late Dubbo Cycle Club coach Gus Dawson and marks his first Commonwealth Games appearance.
