Australian Defence Force donates soccer uniforms to Solomon Islands police team

Under the Defence Cooperation Programme, the Australian Defence Force (ADF) donated a set of soccer uniforms to the Team Barbarians at Rove police headquarters on 23 September 2026.

Team Barbarians consists of soccer players from various departments within the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) and its security partners. Captain Emma Griffiths, the ADF Defence Advisor to the Solomon Islands, presented the uniforms to Superintendent Steve Sunaone, the Chair of the football sub-committee.

Superintendent Sunaone noted that the gesture serves to inspire and cement bonds between Australia and the Solomon Islands through defence cooperation. He highlighted the importance of partnerships such as the ADF, RSIPF & AFP Policing Partnership Program (RAPPP) and the Solomon Island Police Support Program (SIPSP).
