Australian dentist Tom Belmonte lands full‑time job straight from regional university

Charles Sturt University (CSU) was ranked No. 1 in Australia for undergraduate full‑time employment, with 90.5 % of its domestic graduates securing work within six months, according to the Graduate Outcomes Survey. Dentistry graduate Tom Belmonte, a local of Orange, began a full‑time position at Wellness Dental immediately after graduation, under the mentorship of principal dentist Dr Lindsay Mahlo. The survey also notes a median starting salary of $80,000 for CSU graduates and that 86 % of regional graduates remain in regional areas, helping address critical skill shortages in health, education and agriculture.

Belmonte highlighted the advantage of extensive hands‑on training, citing patient exposure from the second year through a dedicated placement year, which he believes gave him a competitive edge over metropolitan peers.
