Australian drivers jailed following dangerous police pursuits
Two separate incidents involving high-speed police pursuits in Australia have resulted in jail sentences for the drivers involved.
In New South Wales, 29-year-old Jaydn Quinn was sentenced at Maitland Local Court following a pursuit that began after he stole a hire vehicle. During the incident, Quinn collided with an unmarked police car and attempted to drive away while an officer was still partially inside the vehicle. Quinn also faced charges including stalking, intimidation, and resisting police after allegedly threatening to burn down a woman's house.
In Western Australia, 30-year-old Stuart William Michael Anderson was sentenced to 14 months in prison by the Joondalup Magistrates Court. Anderson led police on a chase reaching speeds of over 180km/h, drove on the wrong side of the road, and continued driving on rims after blowing two tyres. This marked Anderson's fourth conviction for reckless driving, following a lifetime driving disqualification issued in 2024.
