Sydney childcare worker Hamish Tait faces 329 charges in massive child abuse case
Former Sydney childcare worker Hamish Alexander Edward Tait, 35, has been charged with 329 offences alleged to have been committed between 2009 and 2025 across 62 early‑learning centres in north‑west Sydney. The charges include producing child‑abuse material, filming children without consent, sexual touching of minors and using children to create abuse material. Police seized roughly 2.5 million files from Tait’s devices and identified 136 victims, while 22 remain unknown. AFP Acting Commander Luke Needham said the investigation, dubbed Operation Moonbi, continues to locate additional victims and trace material that was reportedly shared overseas. After a court lifted a non‑publication order, Tait’s identity was disclosed and families of identified victims have been contacted. A local contact point has been established to provide support and information to affected families as the inquiry proceeds.
