Australian gold explorers report significant drilling results
Gold exploration companies in Australia have reported significant drilling results. GoldArc Resources confirmed a ‘genuinely blind gold system’ at its Whistler prospect within the Leonora South Gold Project in Western Australia. Reverse circulation drilling intersected gold mineralisation at depth, with notable intercepts including 2m at 4.12g/t Au and 1m at 5.22g/t Au. The mineralisation is associated with silver, bismuth, cerium, and tungsten.
In New South Wales, Waratah Minerals has strengthened the case for a westward extension of its Spur Zone gold discovery. Sonic core drilling at the Gum Flat prospect identified shallow gold in both alluvial sediments and weathered basement rocks. The results support the interpretation that the Spur Zone may extend approximately 150m west beneath cover, creating a new exploration target. Intercepts included 19m at 1.10g/t Au from 31m and 50.5m at 0.32g/t Au from surface.
