Jessica Bang, 18-year-old Australian golfer, dies in Thailand

Australian professional golfer Jessica Bang has died at the age of 18 following a brain hemorrhage. The rising star passed away on August 13 at Synphaet Ramintra Hospital in Bangkok, Thailand.

Bang had been hospitalized since August 1, when she suddenly collapsed while in Bangkok preparing for the KLPGA Tour international qualifying tournament. She underwent emergency brain surgery and was subsequently placed on life support in intensive care. Her family and the WPGA Tour of Australasia confirmed her passing, expressing deep sadness over the loss of a talent who had made a significant impact in a short time.

Bang turned professional in late 2025 after a successful amateur career. Her most notable achievement came in February 2026, when she won the Ford Women’s NSW Open Regional Qualifying Event in Moss Vale, Australia, setting a course record in the process. She was widely regarded as one of the brightest young prospects in Australian golf.
