Australian Health Minister expands telehealth for medication reviews

Health Minister Mark Butler announced that from 1 November, follow‑up services for Home Medicines Reviews (HMRs) and Residential Medication Management Reviews (RMMRs) will be deliverable via telehealth, as part of negotiations on the First Pharmacy Programs Agreement. The Pharmaceutical Society of Australia welcomed the change, saying it modernises pharmacist‑delivered care and improves access for patients in rural and remote areas.

Pharmacist Pooja Sharma, the 2026 PSA Victorian Early Career Pharmacist of the Year, highlighted her work conducting HMRs in community settings and remote communities in the Northern Territory, emphasizing the role of pharmacists in medication safety.

At PSA’s annual Fellows Dinner, the Society announced its 2026 cohort of Fellows and Life Fellows, naming pharmacists from across the country and recognizing their long‑term contributions to the profession.
