Simon Peter Carman denies murder of Thai teenager
Simon Peter Carman, a 45-year-old Australian man, has broken his silence from a Thai prison regarding the death of 17-year-old Tunchanok Donhomla in Pattaya. Carman faces four charges, including intentional murder, concealing a corpse, and abducting a minor for indecent purposes. He has pleaded not guilty to all counts.
In a media interview, Carman claimed the death was “unavoidable” and occurred during a struggle in which he acted in self-defence. He alleged that after he gave the teenager money, she produced a knife, prompting a physical altercation. Carman admitted to moving the victim's body to a railway track but denied killing her.
Thai police investigations contradict his claims. CCTV footage shows the pair walking hand-in-hand into his apartment complex, and Carman was later seen transporting a large suitcase via motorcycle. An autopsy revealed the teenager died of suffocation and sustained brain injuries. Furthermore, police confirmed that DNA found on the victim's body matched Carman's.
The victim's father, Thongchai Donhomla, has publicly rejected Carman's claims, calling for the accused to take responsibility for his actions.
