Metro Mining records record Q2 bauxite shipments

Metro Mining (ASX:MMI) shipped 1.8 million wet metric tonnes of bauxite from its Bauxite Hills Mine in Q2 2026, a 7 % increase over the same period last year. June alone saw 779,000 wet metric tonnes, up 29 % from May, reflecting recovery after Tropical Cyclone Narelle and the recommissioning of the offshore floating terminal (OFT) Ikamba following dry‑dock work. The company noted that its new integrated planning and operating system reduced supply‑chain variability in early June, though the final week of June experienced crane‑1 downtime due to hydraulic‑cylinder contamination, scheduled for repair during the planned maintenance shutdown. Metro Mining expects bauxite shipment guidance for 2026 of 6.6‑7.1 million wet metric tonnes and highlighted a 160 % increase in waste stripping, enabled by 24‑hour stripping operations. The offshore floating crane TSA Skardon has left for its five‑year statutory dry‑dock program and is expected back by mid‑September.
