Australian mining companies Manuka and MGX advance gold production
Manuka Resources has restarted gold production at its Wonawinta processing facility in New South Wales following a five-month recommissioning program. The upgrades included improvements to power generation, laboratory facilities, and key processing components. The company currently holds a stockpile of over 50,000 tonnes of gold ore from its Mt Boppy mine and aims to process between 125,000 and 140,000 tonnes over the next three months as operations ramp up. Manuka is also preparing for silver production, targeted for the fourth quarter of 2026.
Separately, MGX Resources is pivoting toward gold production by investing $412 million into its Central Tanami gold project in the Northern Territory. Following its exit from iron ore, the company is using cash reserves to accelerate drilling, infrastructure upgrades, and underground development. The project, a joint venture, includes the Groundrush exploration decline and resource definition drilling at the Jims deposit. The Central Tanami project holds an updated resource of 2.8 million ounces of gold and includes existing infrastructure such as a processing plant and airstrip.
