Australian outback rainfall hinders major pastoral sales

Heavy rainfall in the Australian outback is complicating major pastoral property sales and leases. While the rain has replenished stock feed and watercourses, it has created logistical challenges by making tracks inaccessible for prospective buyers.

The Reynolds family is auctioning the Mannawarra and Upalinna stations, totaling 66,800 hectares, east of the Flinders Ranges. Nutrien Harcourts is managing the public auction, which is scheduled for October 14. Lead agent Peter Marschall noted that a substantial rainfall event of 170mm in early August necessitated delays in property inspections to allow for track reinstatement.

Similar weather-related inspection issues have been reported for those interested in leasing the Mooleulooloo and Strathearn stations near Broken Hill. Despite the access difficulties, there remains significant interest in these outback sheep station opportunities.
