Australian permanent resident Denise Migliore charged with illegal voting in US elections
Denise Nataly Migliore, a 51‑year‑old lawful permanent resident of Australia, was arrested on July 1 at the federal courthouse in New Orleans, Louisiana. Federal prosecutors filed a four‑count indictment accusing her of making false statements to register to vote and of casting ballots in the November 2022 and November 2024 U.S. federal elections despite not being a U.S. citizen.
The Department of Homeland Security said the case resulted from a joint investigation by ICE and other federal partners. If convicted, Migliore faces a maximum sentence of five years in prison, three years of supervised release, a fine of up to $250,000 and a mandatory special assessment fee.
