Australian police appeal for identification of cold‑case victims in New South Wales and Canberra

Police in New South Wales have renewed a public appeal for information about an unidentified man whose body was found in a car near Glen Innes in September 1999. The man, described as a Caucasian male aged 40‑55 with a beard and grey hair, was found in a beige 1984 Holden Commodore with Western Australian plates. Detectives say the case remains unsolved and are urging anyone with memories from the time to come forward during Missing Persons Week.

In the Australian Capital Territory, police have partnered with artist Harriet Mitchell to create portraits of three teenagers who vanished in the 1980s and early 1990s – Megan Mulquiney (1984), Amelia Hausia (1992) and Elizabeth Herfort. Detectives Craig Marriott and Paul Fenwick stress that fading community memory hampers investigations and hope the artwork will trigger new tips from the public, reminding people that even a brief recollection could provide a breakthrough.
