Australian police investigate Married at First Sight over privacy allegations

Police in New South Wales and Western Australia are investigating the reality television program Married at First Sight Australia following a formal complaint from a male contestant. The investigation centers on allegations that producers inappropriately sourced and shared the contestant's private information with his on-screen partner during the filming of an upcoming season.

On August 24, 2026, officers from the South Sydney Police Area Command attended an apartment building in Zetland to conduct interviews and seize mobile phones related to the production. The matter has since been referred to the Western Australia Police Force for further inquiry.

Broadcaster Nine confirmed the investigation but directed all inquiries to the production company, Endemol Shine Australia, which has declined to comment. This incident follows previous scrutiny of the show, including a SafeWork NSW investigation last year regarding allegations of unsafe working environments and inappropriate behavior on set.
