A 60‑rider breakaway on stage 6 of the Tour Auvergne‑Rhône‑Alpes created chaos and reshuffled the general classification. Australian neo‑pro Luke Tuckwell emerged as the new race leader, wearing the yellow jersey with a 1 minute 12‑second lead over Frenchman Bruno Armirail. French rider Paul Seixas of Decathlon CMA CGM, who finished seventh that day, later described the breakaway as “very fast” and noted that the group averaged more than 44 km/h, with short bursts up to 60 km/h.

Stage 7 featured a 134‑km mountain finish at Grand Colombier. Seixas crashed early, sustaining cuts and blood on his arm, and fell more than two minutes behind the peloton.
