Australian Royal Commission on Antisemitism hears testimony from former neo‑Nazi

On 5 August 2026 the Royal Commission on Antisemitism reconvened in Sydney to examine the drivers of antisemitism, hearing from a former extremist who traced his journey from a 1970s upbringing in Victoria, through Army Cadets and the Australian Defence Force, to involvement with the National Socialist Network.

The witness, identified only as “ADC”, described being attacked by a fellow soldier with a steam iron, the subsequent dismissal of charges, and his later participation in neo‑Nazi music groups and adoption of white‑nationalist tattoos. He said he left the movement in 2007, later formed friendships with people of other ethnicities, and now seeks to expose far‑right recruitment, online extremism and the need for stronger government response.
