Australian sheep auctions see strong demand and record sales

Recent livestock auctions in Australia have demonstrated strong demand for high-quality sheep breeds. At the Burnbrae Poll Merino stud sale in Inverleigh, the stud achieved a near-total clearance, selling 99 out of 100 rams offered. The sale saw a record average price of $2,901 per ram, an increase of approximately $800 from the previous year. The top-priced ram, Lot 85, was sold to O'Brien Dohne Merino and Poll Merino stud for $7,000.

In a separate event, the SA Corriedale Feature Sale at Inman Valley saw significant interstate interest. A top-priced ram from the Wattle Glen stud was purchased by Inlet Views, a Western Australian stud run by the WA College of Agriculture Denmark, for $2,000. Buyers from Victoria also participated heavily, highlighting the demand for Corriedale genetics known for wool quality and hardy carcases.
