Australian Shepherd reunited with owner after 1,600 km journey

An Australian Shepherd named Rio has been reunited with his owner after disappearing for 14 days and traveling over 1,600 kilometers. The 10-year-old dog vanished from his home near Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Rio was eventually discovered wandering the streets of Greensboro, North Carolina. A passerby brought him to Guilford County Animal Services, where a microchip scan revealed his identity and linked him to his owner, Melissa Burris. Ms. Burris traveled to North Carolina to retrieve the dog and has since returned him to his home in Oklahoma. The exact circumstances of how the dog traveled such a vast distance remain unknown.
