Australian Sprinter Lachlan Kennedy Sets 100m National Record, Wins Silver at Glasgow Commonwealth Games

Lachlan Kennedy ran 9.85 seconds in the men’s 100 m final at the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games, breaking the Australian national record and earning a silver medal. His performance marked Australia’s first men’s 100 m medal at the Games since 1962.

In the women’s 100 m, Australian Torrie Lewis also broke the national record twice, finishing third with a time of 10.99 seconds. Both athletes highlighted the depth of Australian sprinting talent at the event.

Other Australian highlights included Ky Robinson’s 10,000 m double victory and Rose Davies becoming the first Australian woman to win that distance at a Commonwealth Games.
