Australian winger Nestory Irankunda set for €20 million move to Sporting CP

Sporting CP have submitted a €20 million offer – €15 million guaranteed fee plus €5 million in bonuses – to sign 20‑year‑old Australian winger Nestory Irankunda from Watford. The player has removed Watford references from his social media and is awaiting permission to travel to Lisbon for a medical examination, with the transfer expected to be finalised within days.

Irundaka, who impressed at the World Cup and previously trained with Bayern Munich, sees the move as a chance to play in the UEFA Champions League. Watford had earlier rejected lower offers, including a €12 million proposal from Celta de Vigo and a €10 million bid from Hull City. Bayern retain a buy‑back option and a future sell‑on percentage. Club president Frederico Varandas and Sporting officials are pushing for a swift completion.

The deal would give Sporting a promising left‑winger to bolster their squad while providing Irankunda with a platform in Portugal’s top flight and European competition.
