Australia's bowling quartet reaches 600-wicket milestone

Australia’s premier Test bowling quartet—Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood, and Nathan Lyon—has reached a historic milestone. Following a 214-run victory over South Africa in Durban, the group became the first to surpass 600 Test wickets played together.

Josh Hazlewood described the group as entering a ‘golden age,’ noting a sense of freedom and reduced pressure as they enter their tenth year as Australia’s primary attack. The bowling unit has also shown improved depth in batting, contributing to recent successes.

In addition to the on-field achievements, the team's selection strategy has faced scrutiny. Despite controversy regarding the decision to pick Nic Maddinson for the Durban Test, his performance has provided vindication for chief selector George Bailey and the selection panel.
