Australia's Geotab‑Swinburne Transport Innovation Hub launches AI research

The Geotab‑Swinburne Transport Innovation Hub opened at Swinburne University of Technology in Melbourne to accelerate artificial‑intelligence applications in freight, road safety and mobility. The centre brings together industry, academia and government to develop practical AI‑driven solutions for connected transport, sustainability and electric‑vehicle adoption.

Geotab founder and CEO Neil Cawse praised the hub’s integrated model, saying it “breaks down silos between research, government bodies and industry” and focuses on real‑world outcomes rather than theory. Early projects target driver‑behaviour analysis, alcohol‑detection via camera systems and improved visualisation of transport networks, aiming to enhance safety and system visibility across Australia’s transport sector.
