Australia's Women's Big Bash League 12 season begins

The 12th edition of the Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL) is set to commence on October 29, 2026, featuring eight franchises in a 38-day tournament. The competition will consist of a 40-match regular-season group stage followed by a three-match finals series.

Several teams have finalized their rosters ahead of the season. The Sydney Thunder has completed its 15-player primary squad with the signing of batter Claire Moore. The Perth Scorchers have also finalized their squad, adding Taneale Peschel and Ines McKeon to their lineup.

In the Adelaide Strikers camp, all-rounder Tahlia McGrath expressed her intention to use the tournament as a platform to regain her position in the Australian national T20 side following a period of inconsistent form. The season kicks off with a double header at Melbourne's Junction Oval, featuring the Melbourne Renegades against the Sydney Thunder and the Melbourne Stars against the defending champion Hobart Hurricanes.
