Austria and Germany boost sovereign bond issuances
The Austrian government increased the size of its five‑year sovereign bond by €575 million, bringing the total outstanding volume to €4.075 billion. The bond was oversubscribed 2.72‑times, with an emission yield of 3.008 % and a narrowed spread to German benchmarks.
Germany’s federal financing agency added two green sovereign bonds to the market: a €472 million issue maturing in February 2035 with a 3.01 % average yield, and a €310 million issue maturing in August 2053 with a 3.6 % average yield. Both issues were placed as part of routine market‑maintenance operations.
Both issuances come amid a relatively quiet market season, expectations of further rate hikes by the European Central Bank and the U.S. Federal Reserve, and heightened investor interest in sovereign debt and green financing.
