Austria and Germany coordinate on European rail research
Austrian Mobility Minister Peter Hanke and German Transport Minister Steffen Bilger held bilateral discussions regarding the future of European rail research and automated mobility.
A primary focus of the meeting was the continuation of the Europe's Rail Joint Undertaking, a European partnership for research and innovation in the rail sector. The current iteration of the program is scheduled to expire in 2027. Austria is advocating for the program's extension as part of its 2035 industrial strategy, a position that has received clear support from Germany.
