Austria Funds Rural Projects to Strengthen Agriculture, Infrastructure and Health Services

The Austrian state is allocating significant funds to boost rural economies. In Lower Austria, a €66.7 million investment package targets the dairy sector, expanding Berglandmilch’s cheese production with new lines, modern bottling, and higher hygiene standards. Additional spending supports a high‑bay warehouse, advanced cooling, and logistics in Baden, as well as projects for grape‑seed oil, tofu processing, grain storage, bio‑certification, and animal‑welfare improvements.

In Carinthia, €41 million is earmarked for 343 regional projects covering broadband expansion, energy‑efficiency bonuses, flood‑ and avalanche protection, and road upgrades. The programme also addresses public‑health concerns, funding STI testing and education, and expanding addiction‑prevention initiatives, including training for educators and support for pregnant women with substance‑use disorders. Both regions emphasize local decision‑making and aim to create jobs, secure supply chains, and improve quality of life for residents.
