Austria investigates sexual exploitation of minors in Vienna and Graz

Prosecutors in Vienna opened a probe into a suspected prostitution ring after a convicted murderer disclosed its location. The bar in the Margareten district is alleged to have taken payment from under‑age boys, many from Bulgaria, to provide sexual services. The investigation targets up to 15 suspects, including the venue’s owners and head waiter, on charges of human trafficking, child prostitution and, in some cases, pedophilia.

In Graz, a 16‑year‑old is being held in pre‑trial detention on suspicion of raping an 11‑year‑old girl in South Styria. Authorities say the teen acted alone and a youth psychiatrist has been ordered to assess his mental state. A related assault in Leoben involving a 19‑year‑old with handcuffs is also under investigation.

The two cases highlight an ongoing focus by Austrian law enforcement on serious sexual crimes involving minors.
