Austria reports regional variations in real estate and gas prices
An analysis by Raiffeisen Immobilien regarding the Austrian condominium market shows significant price variations across state capitals. As of June 2026, St. Pölten is the most affordable capital with average prices of 2,800 Euro per square meter, followed by Eisenstadt, Graz, and Klagenfurt. Conversely, Innsbruck maintains the highest price levels, followed by Vienna, Salzburg, and Bregenz. Linz sits in the middle with an average of 4,200 Euro per square meter.
In the energy sector, gas prices in Austria have risen significantly. An evaluation by the comparison portal ‘durchblicker’ indicates that while a tariff switch may benefit many households, it currently offers little savings in Vorarlberg, where the regional provider remains cheaper than alternatives. In Vorarlberg, the cheapest alternative is currently up to 100 Euro more expensive than existing local tariffs. Regional location remains a decisive factor in monthly gas costs, with notable price differences observed between states such as Vorarlberg and Lower Austria.
