Austria road closures: S31 expressway and regional disruptions
Drivers in Austria face several significant road closures and traffic restrictions this weekend due to infrastructure projects and events.
A major closure is scheduled on the S31 expressway in Burgenland between Weppersdorf and Neutal. The section will be closed in both directions from Friday, September 18, at 6:00 PM until Sunday, September 20, at midnight to facilitate a bridge demolition as part of safety upgrades. Traffic is being diverted via the B50.
In the Linz area, the B1 road will experience full closures in the direction of Enns from Friday evening until Monday morning. Additionally, a cycling event on Sunday morning may cause temporary disruptions near Linz, and short-term closures on the A7 motorway are possible.
Long-term construction continues on the A8 near Wels, where the section from the Wels-West junction toward Vorarlbergberg remains closed for tunnel repairs, a project expected to last until June 2027. Furthermore, regulated traffic conditions persist on the A13 Brenner motorway due to ongoing work on the Ljug bridge.
