Austria Salzburg coach injured by cup thrown during Westderby
During the Westderby between Wacker Innsbruck and Austria Salzburg, a confrontation occurred following the match. Austria Salzburg coach Christian Schaider was struck in the face by a cup thrown from the stands, resulting in a laceration on his nose.
Schaider reported that the individual responsible appeared to be a young child, estimated to be under ten years old. The perpetrator reportedly disappeared into the crowd immediately after the incident.
Despite the injury, Schaider noted that the atmosphere during the match had been excellent, with over 16,000 spectators in attendance at the Tivoli-Stadion. However, he criticized the incident as an undignified conclusion to the game, stating, ‘If children in the stadium throw a cup in the face of the opposing team's coach, then something is wrong in our society.’
