Austria to host Monument Day on September 27, 2026

The Austrian Federal Monuments Office (Bundesdenkmalamt) has announced the 2026 Monument Day (Tag des Denkmals), scheduled for September 27, 2026. Under the theme ‘Monuments: Value for All’, the event invites the public to explore cultural heritage through free access to various sites.

In Upper Austria alone, the program includes more than 40 monuments and 11 guided tours. Across Austria, approximately 300 monuments and tours will be available for exploration. The initiative aims to highlight the societal contributions of protected sites, focusing on seven key values: everyday life and encounter, responsibility and identity, digitalization and innovation, climate protection and sustainability, care and repair, economy and value creation, and participation and initiative.
