Austria wins two silver medals at European Beach Sprint Championships

Austria secured two silver medals at the 2026 European Beach Sprint Championships held in La Línea, Spain. Magdalena Lobnig earned silver in the Women’s Coastal Single Sculls (W1x) after advancing through the quarterfinals and semifinals. She finished second in the final behind Spain’s Esther Briz Zamorano.

In the Junior Mixed Double Sculls (JMix2x), Alexander Rittenbacher and Esther Schoeberl also claimed silver. The duo progressed through the quarterfinals and semifinals before finishing second in the final to the Spanish boat.

The competition faced challenging weather conditions, including high winds and heavy waves during the early stages, which forced some races to be rescheduled. However, calmer seas on the final day allowed the remaining races to proceed as planned.
