Austrian and German television crime series enter new production phases

Several new television crime series productions are underway in Austria and Germany. The reboot of ‘Kommissar Rex’ has begun filming its second season in Vienna. The production, a co-production between ORF and Sat.1, will feature six new episodes set in locations such as the Prater and the Albertina Museum. Maximilian Brückner returns as Inspector Max Steiner, and Hilde Dalik joins the cast as press officer Paula Grobecker.

Additionally, a new ORF/ARD Degeto crime series titled ‘Tiroler Blut’ is scheduled to premiere on October 5, 2026. Starring Ursula Strauss as Chief Inspector Fanny Gruber, the series focuses on a three-generation police family in Innsbruck and explores themes of professional and personal conflict.
