Austrian Armed Forces host apprentice sports days in Styria

The Austrian Armed Forces (Bundesheer) held its annual apprentice sports days from October 28 to October 30, 2026, at the Seetaler Alpe training area in Styria. The event brought together more than 180 apprentices and nearly 40 apprentice officers from across all Austrian federal states.

Organized by the Army Personnel Office in cooperation with the training area leadership, the program focused on team-building exercises and group sports designed to strengthen cooperation across different departments. Defense Minister Klaudia Tanner visited the site on October 29 to observe the performance of the technical and civilian trainees.

In addition to physical training, the program included technical tours at the Hinterstoisser airbase in Zeltweg, providing insights into aviation maintenance processes. The Bundesheer currently trains 283 apprentices across 32 different professions, including metalworking, automotive technology, electronics, aviation technology, logistics, and administration.
