Austrian citizens receive regional honors for community service

Various regional honors were recently bestowed upon citizens in Austria for their dedicated volunteer work and professional services.

In Lower Austria, Astrid Ebenberger was awarded the Grand Decoration of Merit for the state of Lower Austria by Governor Johanna Mikl-Leitner. The honor recognizes her long-standing contributions as a secondary school director, a teacher at the Church Pedagogical University of Vienna/Lower Austria, and her former role as Vice President of the Catholic Family Association of Austria.

In Tyrol, Governor Anton Mattle presented 83 citizens with the ‘Tiroler Ehrenamtsnadel in Gold’ (Tyrolean Volunteer Pin in Gold) during a ceremony in St. Johann. The recipients represent a wide range of community services, including sports coaching, musical ensembles, social services, animal welfare, and local historical preservation.
