Austrian court challenges A2 motorway speed limit

The Lower Austrian Regional Administrative Court has filed an application for annulment with the Constitutional Court regarding the 80 km/h speed limit on the A2 motorway near Wr. Neudorf.

The speed restriction was implemented by Environment Minister Leonore Gewessler despite significant investments in noise protection walls. Udo Landbauer, the FPÖ Lower Austria state party chairman and transport councilor, criticized the limit as an attack on mobility that negatively impacts commuters, families, and elderly citizens. Landbauer expressed hope that the Constitutional Court will overturn the measure to restore normal traffic flow on the four-lane highway.
