Austrian court rejects Disney lawsuit from Taylor Swift attack plotter

An Austrian court has rejected a claim for damages filed by Beran A., a man convicted of planning terrorist attacks against Taylor Swift concerts in Vienna. The plaintiff sought compensation from Disney and Disney+ following the release of the documentary series ‘The End of an Era’.

His legal team argued that the series included media clips showing his family home and street signs, which they claimed violated privacy laws and endangered his safety. In response, Disney’s counsel noted that the footage in question was removed in May, shortly after the complaint was received. Additionally, it was noted that his parents had previously received 3,000 euros each as part of a separate settlement.

Judge Nicole Baczak ruled that the plaintiff failed to demonstrate a ‘concrete danger’ to his rights. The case stems from the 2024 cancellation of three Taylor Swift concerts at the Ernst-Happel-Stadion due to planned attacks linked to ISIS. Beran A. was sentenced to 15 years in prison in May 2026, though appeals have been filed regarding his conviction.
